Have you been riding motorcycle for a long time? Since you were a kid? You probably know everything there is to know about riding motorcycles - right?......... Wrong!! The Experienced RiderCourse [ERC] focuses on advanced elements like pre-ride checks, motorcycle AND rider preparation, stopping distances, rider radar, car/motorcycle accidents, motorcycle-only crashes, traction patches, alcohol involvement, the "oval of safety" and the "SEE" strategy [search, evaluate & execute]. Students get to use their own motorcycles and we encourage the presence of a passenger. The ERC range activities practice slow speed control, limited space maneuvers, cornering judgment and finesse, braking quickly in both, straight-lines & curves and swerving to reinforce the skills found essentially absent in motorcycle involved accidents. In total, the ERC consists of approximately 6 hours of on-cycle range instruction and practice, including brief facilitated discussions relating directly to street riding. The ERC is an excellent refresher course for the returning or re-entry rider looking to improve his/her skills and techniques in order to regain the confidence and control PRIOR to becoming involved in today’s faster, more congested riding environment. This course is intended exclusively for experienced motorcyclists and prior RiderCourse training is NOT NECESSARY. The Motorcycle Safety Foundation’s Skills Plus ERC is a must have for any motorcycle enthusiast regardless of "how long you've been riding" and it's available from FIRST MSP.
